Well my week ended up on a bad not. I was in a really bad car accident. I was driving…at a stop light waiting for the green arrow to allow me to turn left. I got my green arrow and proceeded into the intersection when I was hit by a guy running his red light. He hit my car on the front passenger side. My airbags deployed, thank God. I think he hit his head on his side window although I am not sure. I saw no blood on him or the window. Just this guy yelling as in pain and holding his head as he got out of the car. A witness had him lay down on the pavement and she called 911. Instantly we were surrounded by emergency personnel. For a while no one knew that I was the driver of the other vechicle cause they were focused on the man on the ground. There was a witness (man who was behind the guy who hit me) that saw that he ran the red light, he came over to me to let me know. I guess there were 2 other witnesses too. The guy who hit me was unable to give a report or statement at the time so I currently don’t have the official Police report just the report number. I don’t even know if this guy was insured. I am thinking the odds are good that he is. He is an older gentlemen of about late 50’s to early 60’s driving a Rav4 type of vehicle that was in good shape and looked fairly new.
I went to the ER and was check out. CT scans, chest xrays and blood work. I am fine just bruised up from the seatbelt and airbag.
I would appreciate all prayers and good thoughts that all the insurance stuff, payments, car rental and money for purchase of another car will go smoothly. I will tackle all of that stuff on Monday. In the meantime I will be taking it easy.
For some reason I had presence of mind to snap a picture with my cell phone. Here it is.

Oh Nikkie! I am so glad you were not hurt; it could have been so much worse. Even so, it’s still horrible that you had an accident. I hope things can all get straightened out quickly for you!
*hug*
glad you’re doing ok!
Thanks Deej & Kramer! I am doing pretty good all things considering. The Dr. warned me that I might feel worse the couple of days after the accident but so far that is not the case. I am sore, bruised and my body is stiff but nothing that Advil can’t handle. I did kind of go thru’ a bit of an emtional breakdown last night. I really hadn’t had any reaction one way or the other to the accident at the time it happened up until last night then wham bam tears, anger, why me, what am I going to do blah blah blah. I feel better this morning tho’. Now if only I could get my mind from playing the ‘video’ of the accident in my brain.
That’s scary… Thank goodness you are ok other than sore and bruised!
I wonder if there is a way to find out the condition of the man? Maybe the police would know.
That goodness you are (mostly) all right! That’s the most important thing–an auto accident can do a lot of damage. Hope all the stuff with the police and insurance companies gets sorted out smoothly and quickly.
